Despite being in existence for less than a year, Cardiff's HOLDING ABSENCE have already achieved more than many do in years, and now their unique blend of emotive post-hardcore has gained the attention of Nuclear Blast's imprint label SHARPTONE RECORDS (Don Broco, Miss May I, We Came As Romans, Emmure etc.)
Frontman Lucas Woodland introduces the band: 'We speak about who we are, who we want to be, and what we stand for. We speak about those things in great depth very often, and it's refreshing to know that there's not much of a limit to what we can do, and what we WANT to do. As music fans, we love listening to everything from
Radiohead, to Thy Art Is Murder - so there's a large range of inspiration there. Ultimately, I believe the real goal for us is to always write something sincere and honest, that will hopefully make people feel something. The day we stop writing true music, regardless of genre, is the day Holding Absence dies.'

Commenting on the 'Dream Of Me' single Lucas states ‘Musically, we wanted to incorporate some more of our more pop and alternative influences, such as Smashing Pumpkins and My Bloody Valentine. Lyrically the track is about the loss of love, but also applicable to the loss of life too. "When you sleep forever, Dream Of Me. When all is said and done, we ache in unison. Your absence, bittersweet. It linger, always”.’ The track stormed the Kerrang! charts for two straight months, reaching the Top 10 in that time .

Formed in 2016, the quintet have already played shows with We Are The Ocean, Blood Youth, Being As An Ocean, Casey, Greywind, Burning Down Alaska and more, as well as headlined plenty shows of their own. 2017 sees the band upping the ante with a touring schedule already set to make them the busiest band in the UK. The band, who really sold out Cardiff Clwb Ifor Bach, recently announced slots at Download, Camden Rocks, Fat Lip and Amplified Festival, to name but a few, with a long string of headline dates surrounding them.
